Great Sermon

What a great sermon we received today! Ken Dyck was up from Surrey preaching "If it's broke..fix it!" Scripture was from Genesis, and specifically about Adam and his family. The point of his sermon was repairing disfunctional relationships ie.-family. the Holy Spirit moved me, and the sermon was bang on the money. We humans have a lot of defects of character that get in the way of our personal relationships, and simply acknowledging them and working to rid ourselves of them brings us real character thru humility.

  1. self-centeredness
  2. blaming
  3. self-justification
  4. pride
  5. false humility
  6. impulsiveness
  7. envy & jealousy
  8. phoniness
  9. conning
  10. people pleasing
  11. self-pity
  12. perfectionism
  13. intolerance
  14. sarcasm
  15. taking for granted
  16. impatience
  17. withdrawing
  18. avoidance
  19. violence
  20. gossiping
  21. lying

These imperfections are the opposite of the Fruits of the Spirit. We need to pray for wisdom and seek goodness to truly be real! Just imagine what the world would be like today if Adam and Eve ignored Satan. We need to flee sin ! When we are on our game sin struggles to overcome us. Try these honorable character traits the next time you struggle with a family member, co-worker, or friend.

  • love
  • joy
  • peace
  • patience
  • gentleness
  • goodness
  • kindness
  • self control
  • faithfulness

Feed the ugliness that's inside all of us some fruit.

Huh ?

I don't know if I believe what happened today, Canada lost to Switzerland 2-0 despite out-shooting them 49-18. Its one of the top upsets in Olympic History, #8 beating a heavily talented and favored #1. I don't have anymore to say.

Hello, I'm back !

Looking for a Rainbow

Well it was a good week in most regards ! The personal blog I made about a week ago was commented on quite a bit, and your prayers have helped. The wisdom I seek is something you need to meditate on, pray earnestly on and pay attention to opportunities. I have tried to remain quiet, and allow God to show me how I should act, or respond. I haven't seen any signs or felt any paticular push, so I shall remain silent ( at work) and wait for opportunities to share God. People say I look depressed, and I usually take that as a negative comment, but there may be an element of truth to this. Maybe I've been in self denial, because I don't want to be perceived in a negative way, but more and more I hear it, so can it really be true ? Everyone has weaknesses ! You can't be "up" all the time ! Anyway you can pray about that if you wish. On the other hand your prayers for my un-spoken request have been answered, and I ask you to continue.
Life here in McKenzie is dull and dreary, but it is still winter. I pray that the lack of sun and the cold is the thing bringing me down as I see it. I'm really looking forward to the summer, and buying a boat, and fishing with my lil' son Gabe. That would be like heaven for me, Gabe loves fishing and so do I. I want it to be a time where he and I can bond in a special father/son way. And, I hope we catch some lunkers too !
One thing I appreciate is how Char has been so strong these days. Her fever for God is smokin'. She really holds this family together too. I love her so much. The kids are lucky to have such a great mom, and i'm lucky to have such great kids...but I think that all goes back to Char. She's come a long way with $ managing, she's a fairly knowledgable health lady, a taxi driver, a teacher, and a fitness buff. It's rubbing off on the kids you know ! They're healthy smart and beautiful, just like their momma! (she's lookin' toned too, rrrrrrr!)
Well that's it for now, my blessings have been counted, my family is blessed and it's time to go...ciao Ry

vrs. Avalanche

Rexall Place

The Oilers' play Colorado tonite and plan to join Calgary and Vancouver in a 3 way tie for first place in the N.W. division. The Oil are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games with 11/12 points in their last 6 contests. The Oil also have 6th place in the West to themselves but would dearly love 5th with a win tonite. Shawn Horcoff, Ales Hemsky, and Ryan Smyth will want a big game tonite, the first line must shine. The "D" will need to be solid, and presumably Mike Morrison will need to be at his peak in net to beat the ever dangerous Ave's.

Soup of the Day = Duck

Peca

The Oil beat the Ducks in a shoot-out tonite by a final score 6-5. Home cooking is picking up for the Oilers' who've experienced bad fortune at Rexall as of late. They've now won 2 in a row. The win gives them 67 points, they're tied with Van and Cal, but they're both still playing at the time of this post. Kudos to Fernando Pisani (shoot-out winner) Chris Pronger (2 assists) Ryan Smyth (2 goals) and a extra star for Mike Morrison who came in the 3rd period and shut the door, not to mention blanking the Ducks in the shoot-out. 4 Stars!! Way to go Boys' !

Oilers' Rule

Stoll

The Oilers' beat Vancouver for the fifth straight time this season (last night) by a score of 3-1. They have not lost to the Canucks, and have 3 games left against them. March 21st, 23nd, and 25th with the last two being played in Vancouver. Stoll got the winner, Morrison got the win, and Spacek had 2 assists for my 3 stars. The win puts them 2 points behind Calgary and Vancouver for the division lead, but we have a game in hand on the Canucks. Shots were 40-17 for the Oil, face-offs were 42-16 for the Oil, and powerplays were 2-0 for the Oil. A well rounded butt-kicking, Great job !

For once it's not about hockey, it's not about family, it's not even about the kids! I've been doing alot of soul searching lately because I'm really not all that happy with my life. Last year basically sucked, and for the last few months I've just been stuck in denial and self pitty. It's hard to do the things you know you should do when you feel poisoned. That's how I've felt. In my soul search I woke up to the truth, and remembered that I am far stronger than any poison Satan could throw at me. Through Christ I can overcome ANYTHING. I'm trying to say that I apologize for the loathing, anger, rudeness, ire, intolerance, and hate that has been churning inside me. I want it to be done so I can be the man I'm supposed to be. God has given me special talents that I haven't used in a very long time, you as the Church likely feel numb because I'm a body part that has been paralyzed, well no more, if I can use those talents I will ! I need happiness, I need fellowship, and I need friendship or I'm going to die. One thing that God has been working over the last couple years is finally coming to fruition. I'm not going into the details though I could really use your prayers to beat it down. The things are pastors have been saying have been cutting me like a sword, and the things Char has been publishing on her blog are right on. Those kinds of things should be coming from my mouth instead of the firey tongue that you might be accustomed to. Again I am sorry. Already Satan is irate with me for looking at God again, please keep me in your prayers, and especially for opportunities at work. I need wisdom and patience (although the patience thing scares me!) Please pray for the wisdom! Don't give up on me I'm a work in progress, and I hear the end result is GREAT ! Thanks
