Oilers Grease Desert Dogs

Radek Dvorak on Curtis Joseph (Cujo)
The Oilers did the three-peat in Oileresque Exciting fashion. They beat Phoenix in a shoot-out, but how they got there was the BOMB ! Chris Pronger scored the game tying goal in the 3rd period with 0.3 seconds left on the clock. Talk about your heart-break. The win slams them right back in the thick of the division race with Calgary, Vancouver and Colorado. There's only 4 points between the teams as of today. Kudos go out to Chris Pronger, Radek Dvorak (Shoot-out Winner) and Mike Morrison for the win. Next up...Columbus Blue Jackets

Excited Oilers'

Jason Smith & Todd Harvey

The Oilers' defeated the L.A. Kings 5-3 on a banner day for the team. They had announced that the remaining home game tickets were to go on sale, they had acquired two quality defencemen via trades without giving up much in return, and then they won their 2nd road game in a row. Things had started to look gloomy for the boys of blue and copper, but now it's looking sunny and great. A team effort to be sure, a lot of players chipped in and the result was positive. 13 players got a point for a goal or an assist. Mike Morrison made 28 saves for the win, Marty Reasoner won 69% of his faceoffs, and Jason Smith was +2 in defensive ratings for my 3 stars. California weather is just what the Oilers' needed!

vrs. Kings

The Oilers' play L.A. tonite and they have a good news! They obtained 2 more defencemen with offensive fire- power. Joining the Oil will be Dick Tarnstrom from Pittsburgh ( for Cory Cross & Jani Rita) and Jaroslav Spacek from Chicago ( for Tony Salmelainen). The moves look like steals on paper because the Oilers' are getting guys that can step into the line-up now, and they give up 2 lazy prospects and an old horse in Cory Cross. If last nights thrashing of the Ducks can carry into tonites game, the Oilers' can have a real good road-trip.

Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow

From Down and Out...

The Oilers' scored five unanswered goals starting from 2 seconds left in the 2nd period to stun the Ducks 6-3. I honestly had given up hope for them midway in the 2nd period, but wow, they didn't. Talk about a tale of periods... they didn't even show up til 5:53 of the 2nd, they were outshot 20-10, no p.p goals, gave up 2 p.p. goals, (and looked doomed.) AND then 2 seconds left in the 2nd Steve Staios scores. Then in the 3rd Hemsky scores, Pronger scores twice and Horcoff throws one in the empty net. Oilers' outshoot them 13-2, get 2 p.p. goals and kill one penalty off. Thanks for coming. Only you don't know how bad they needed the 2 points for the win, so bad their playoff picture was disintegrating before their eyes. Right on boys now carry the momentum into L.A. against the Kings tomorrow. Incidentally my buddy Joel from RedDeer will be there in row 4, so if you see a crazy Oiler fan that's him.

To complete Victory!

Go Seahawks !

I'm a bigger fan of the C.F.L. but I do cheer for the Seattle Seahawks. I wish them the best in their quest for their first Superbowl! The half time commercials are always a hoot!

Oilers'/Flames'

The Oilers' take on the Flames in a epic battle of monumental proportions, okay it's 2 points but the Oilers' need them and I like the drama.

Edmonton 48 25 17 06 56
Say a prayer like always, the Oilers' need a playoff spot!

Crazy Kids

I really do have some entertaining (and odd) children.

I thought Gabe wouldn't mind a moustachio (and he didn't until I was done one side) then he wigged out.

Emma looking adorable in her hockey jammies.

Avery loves the digital camera and loves having Gabe "pose" for her.

Avery and Gabe wanted me to take this picture, they said they were a hephalump.

Gabe and his puppies.

Do you remember the movie "People Under the Stairs" ? Well last night we lived it. The kids slept under the basement stairs in the storage space. It was their idea! Thank goodness they didn't haunt us !

Whenever Char and I are on the computer, or on the phone it seems like the kids will anything silly to get our attention...like this!

Shark soup is Served

Sharks' weren't up to the task as the Oilers' beat 'em in a shootout last night 3-2. Mike Morrison came back and showed the boys how to close the door, and recorded his 6th win. Peca and Smyth (two Olympians) scored in the shootout, and gave us the much needed two points. A couple more wins this week and the Oilers' synch up a little more security in the tight N.W. division. Next up...Phoenix !

Vrs. Sharks'

Tonite the Oilers' play the San Jose Sharks'. The Sharks' are my son Gabes' favorite team, presumably because of their name and logo, but this is not the case with me. A large bowl of shark soup is the order of the day. The Oilers' have slipped big time in the new year and it is time to right the ship. Watch for Radek Dvorak, he's back in the line-up from his injury and he needs to light it up. One of the 3 goalies has to step it up too, Colorado has burned right past us in the last couple weeks, and we need to get on a REAL role.

Oilers' Vrs. Sabres'

Oilers' play the Sabres' tonite and need a win, they're having some defensive trouble as of late so pray for our "d". The race in the N.W. is still close so a o.t. loss or shoot-out loss wont do we need 2 points!! The 1st line needs a big game, heck so does the 2nd as well. Go Oilers' Go !

Im Back

The Oilers' dumped 2 big games in a row, but that's besides the point...
Char, the kids and I had a great weekend in Prince George. I received my holiday pay and treated it like lottery winnings as I haven't been out of McKenzie in a while. We stayed at the TreasureCove hotel and casino and had a family blast. The kids were able to spend there Christmas cash at Walmart, we went out for dinner, and played on the hotel waterslide and in the pool. I was at the top of the waterslide with Gabe, Emma was at the bottom with Char and Avery, one second Emma was fine, the next second she was underwater. She had just kept walking into the deep spot and couldn't stop, or turn around how scarey for us parents. Char has probably never moved faster in her life. All turned out well, AND we can never turn our back on the munchkin again, that was only Friday. Saturday we had a great breakfast of waffles and then it was back to the pool. We shopped some more, and went to the Discovery Place Museum. This museum is a very happening place for a kid ! There's many interactive things to do and lots of interesting sights to see. I really enjoyed the animals display. Next stop was BubbaBaloos for lunch where the kids were able to run off some more of their energy and play games for prizes. I would recommend bringing a bag lunch (haha) this joint is very expensive. Avery got bowled over twice by a little brat so I told the brat he better smarten up or I'd take him to his momma. She saw this and came over to me. After questioning the kids as to the story, the mom was sure her kid was the culprit and that Avery was truthful. My story has a point... she had told her kid that he better tell her the truth, and that Jesus was watching and so was Santa! I just about burst out laughing, I sure was hoping the kid would tell the truth for Santas' sake. Some kids parents! Went back to Walmart to pick up Avery's photos from her Christmas camera and then headed home, what a full weekend!
