2 Sweet Points

Spacek & Pronger

The Oilers picked up 2 points from a win against Calgary 3-2 in o.t. Shawn Horcoff netted his 20th for the win Jarret Stoll got his 18th, and Jaroslav Spacek got his 10th + an assist. Sergei Samsonov also picked up an assist, and is fitting in nicely as an Oiler (4 points in 4 games) The Oil sit 4 points back of Calgary for the division lead, but the Flames have 2 games in hand. Next up Is Detroit... Sat.Mar.18th
There will be no more posts for a couple days as I am off to Edmonton.

Finally

Smyth, Pronger & Horcoff (please don't kiss!)

The Oilers exercised some demons, and won. Final score 2-1 over the Minnesota Wild. Roloson finally won a start, Smyth had a goal and an assist, and Spacek had 2 helpers to split the 2 game mini-series. The Oil now share 7th place with Vancouver but have a game in hand on the Canucks. The year is closing quickly and every game is important, so say your Oilers prayer... they get the Flames next Thur. Horcoff and Samsonov

The Oilers must win tonite against the Wild, it's do or die, feast or famine... you pick. They need the 2 points bad, a playoff spot is at stake! Say a prayer for the Oil, they need to win in regulation.

It's a consriracy

Public Enemy #1
Roloson

The Oiler's new goalie is proving to be a double agent. The Oiler's lost to Roloson's former team the Minnesota Wild, and he has now lost his 3rd straight since joining the Oiler's. How timely, as Minnesota and two other teams have rejoined the playoff hunt. I say demote him to a Siberian hockey league and ship Kevin Lowe there as well, what the heck was he thinking trading within the conference, and giving away our first round pick to boot. Im #$%&@ off. Final score was 4-3. At least Horcoff came to play (3 points) and Samsonov chipped in a goal for his third point as an Oiler. Better play Markkanen in the next one, or else !

Nice trade, not so nice loss

Samsonov

The Oilers traded Marty Reasoner to Boston in exchange for Sergei Samsonov, they also gave up Yan Stastny and a 2nd round pick in the '06 draft. The deal brings a bonified sniper to the Oilers which they really need as they have not been scoring enough as of late. Evidence of there futility to score showed up in a 5-2 loss to the Sharks last nite. Dwayne Roloson got the start and the loss (26 saves). The team could have really used Samsonov but we couldn't get him in the line-up quick enough.

Who is it ?

Whom is the newest Oiler that will don this funky helmet, and grace this silky jersey?

The Oilers addressed their need for a solid N.H.L. goalie by acquiring Dwayne Roloson from the Minnesota Wild today in exchange for a 1st round draft pick, and a possible consideration. Ty Conklin was assigned to the Hartford Wolfpack of the A.H.L. to make room for Rolly. The Oil play Minnesota 4 more times this season and hopefully this will bode well for the plucky Edmontonians ! They are 3 points up on 9th place Anaheim for the last playoff spot, but the Ducks have a game in hand.

Dwayne Roloson

Oh Well

Mike Morrison

Hey at least we stole a point. The Oilers came back to tie the game, but lost in a shoot-out to Dallas, final score 4-3. Hemsky, Horcoff, Pronger, and Smyth all had two points. Ty Conklin was pulled in favor of Mike Morrison for the shoot-out (5-1 in shoot-outs) but it back-fired, and we lost, but at least we stole a point. Next game is at San Jose on my birthday (Mar. 9th) The Oilers signed free agent winger Rem Murray, this is his second stint in the copper and blue.

we win

The Predators were captured in overtime 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers in an afternoon game today. That's 2 wins in 2 games for those keeping track (like me). Spacek, Hemsky, Stoll, and Pronger all had 2 points with Smyth getting a lone point. Way to go

The Oilers' play the San Jose Sharks tonite and want to break a 4 game losing streak. They'll be meeting up with Thornton, Marleau, and Cheechoo so they better put some puck"s" in the net. Say a prayer...they need a win bad !
