Good Security !

HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM

1. Go to a secondhand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.
*
2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans, a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.
*
3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.
*
4. Leave a note on your door that reads: "Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls, they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood. PS - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside !

Oilers own sole lead in N.W. division !

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- Jarret Stoll and Shawn Horcoff scored 14 seconds apart late in the third period as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Minnesota Wild 3-1 Thursday night.
With 4:38 remaining, Stoll picked up
Marc-Andre Bergeron's blocked shot in the slot and outfought Keith Carney for the puck. He put a drive into the upper right-hand corner behind goalie Manny Fernandez to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead.
Edmonton stretched its lead 14 seconds later as Horcoff stole the puck in the Minnesota zone and beat Fernandez with a backhander to make it 3-1.
The Wild took a 1-0 advantage by connecting on their first shot of the game.
Todd White showed pass but put a shot past Dwayne Roloson just under four minutes in.
The Oilers had a great chance to tie with eight minutes gone in the second and a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:40, but Fernandez and the Minnesota penalty killers kept Edmonton from coming close.
Edmonton got even 3½ minutes into the third period as defenseman
Matt Greene scored his first NHL goal. Greene put a deke on Fernandez and scored on a backhand.
Game notesThis was the third of eight meetings between the teams this season. Minnesota was 6-2 against Edmonton last season, winning all four on the road. ... Wild C
Wes Walz returned to the lineup for the first time after missing 10 games with a hip injury.

Hurricanes-Oilers Preview

By ANDY LEFKOWITZSTATS Editor

The Carolina Hurricanes will face a much different Edmonton Oilers team than they one they beat in June to bring the Stanley Cup to the Tar Heel state.
In a rematch of last season's thrilling seven-game finals series, the Oilers face off against the Hurricanes on Wednesday at Rexall Place in the only regular-season meeting between the teams.
Days after the Oilers' stunning rise from the eighth seed in the Western Conference to come within one game of winning its first championship since 1990, the breakup of the team began.
Citing personal reasons, defenseman Chris Pronger requested a trade days after the Game 7 loss and was dealt to Anaheim in July for right wing Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Ladislav Smid and prospects. Michael Peca and trading deadline pickup Sergei Samsonov left to sign as free agents with Toronto and Montreal, respectively.
But another trading deadline acquisition chose to stay. Goaltender Dwayne Roloson lost his first three starts after being acquired in early March from Minnesota, but finished 8-7-4 with the Oilers to get them in the playoffs.
After backstopping his new team to the finals, Roloson went down in the third period of Game 1 with an injured right knee, forcing the Oilers to use backups Jussi Markkanen and Ty Conklin the rest of the series.
Conklin misplayed a puck in the final minute of regulation in Game 7 that led to Rod Brind'Amour's goal, giving the Hurricanes a 5-4 win. Brind'Amour led Carolina with 12 playoff goals, including four game-winners.
Roloson, who's expected to start this game, will be trying to end a recent stretch of poor play at home. He's 0-2-1 with a 5.45 goals-against average in his last three starts at Rexall Place, and has been pulled early in his last two appearances.
The Oilers are hoping Roloson can build off his best outing of the season after making 36 saves Monday in a 4-0 win over Vancouver.
"I don't really worry about the last two games. You can't control that. You've just got to look forward and give your guys a chance to win the next day," said Roloson, who has two shutouts this season and 20 for his career.
Injuries to two of its top three forwards also have plagued Edmonton (14-10-2) recently. Captain Ryan Smyth is out indefinitely with a broken thumb, and line mate Ales Hemsky has a shoulder injury that is expected to sideline him until mid-December.
Smyth leads Edmonton with 16 goals scored and is second with 22 points, while Hemsky is second with 14 assists and third with 18 points.
Despite the roster turnover and injuries, Edmonton is tied with Minnesota atop the Northwest with 30 points.
"It's been something that for the many years I've been here we always seem to find a way to battle through situations like that and when we needed a big win to find it," Edmonton's Shawn Horcoff said.
Carolina (15-11-3) opened its four-game road trip against Northwest Division opponents Tuesday with a 3-0 loss at Calgary. Backup goaltender John Grahame allowed a goal to Daymond Langkow 28 seconds into the game, providing the Flames all the offense they would need.
"Anytime you give up a goal that early, it kind of gives them the momentum," Grahame said. "They kind of had it for the first part of the game."
It was the fourth time the Hurricanes have been shut out this season after being blanked three times all last season.
Cam Ward, who became the fourth rookie net minder to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, should start this game. Ward, a native of Edmonton, went 15-8 with a 2.14 GAA in the postseason, but is just 1-2 with a 2.35 GAA at Rexall Place.
This season, Ward is 6-2-0 with a 2.64 GAA in his last eight games, but has lost his last two road starts.
The 'Canes, who are making their first regular-season appearance in Edmonton since December 2003, will complete their road swing with games against Vancouver on Friday and Colorado on Monday.

Bounces Finally Go Oiler's Way !

*
The Oiler's found themselves on the other side of the bounce as they scored some funny ones, and the Canuck's had one disallowed. This was a much needed victory on the road, while playing through some major injuries on the team. The Oiler's remain at the top of the heap in the N.W. division ! Roloson gets the shut-out with a beautiful 36 save performance. Next up is a Stanley Cup rematch against the Carolina Hurricanes Wed. Dec. 6th

Fans have their rant !

New Public Enemy #1

After posting the previous blog I listened to Dean on open-line 630 Ched, and was bored by the list of commenter's who were ticked off about Chris Pronger, rather than commenting on a great hockey game. I was even able to hook up with Dean and talk about good hockey. Still there where the callers that phoned in and whined about getting their poster cards taken away by Rexall staff. They even moaned that it wasn't fair that they didn't get to do or say more. These are likely the same babies that lit White Ave. on fire during the play-offs. It's no wonder that Chris left without a press conference, somebody likely would have lit him on fire ! Anyway I agree with Bryan Hall from my previous video post ! We should have cheered Chris when he hit the ice, and cheered louder when he touched the puck because we're good fans by in large, and he did save us allot of money. Pronger is gone... it's time to get over it !
*
Fans in Oilers jerseys and garish blue wigs booed him when he touched the puck in pregame warm ups, rising up to flash homemade signs.
-"Tell the Truth, Chris," read one.
-"The Gap in Your Story is Bigger Than the Gap in Your Teeth."
-"Chris: 1985 Phoned; They Want Their Hair Back."
During the game, fans serenaded Pronger with chants of "You Sold Out!" along with a mournful, drawn-out "Prawwwwnnnngerrr!"
*
Thanks you vocal minority, you just proved your self to be childish to the point of embarrassment

Ouch ! X3

Joffrey Lupul and Chris Pronger
On the night where Chris Pronger made his return to Edmonton, the Oilers rode a roller-coaster of a game. Rexall was not kind as they booed him hard, and held up poster cards in disgust of his trade request. The Oilers scored first on a goal by Marty Reasoner, but then lost the service of star player Ales Hemsky on a unfortunate hit. It was a tough game as the boys in blue and copper also lost the service of Mark-Andre Bergeron. The Oilers scored again in the second on a goal by Ryan Smyth (his 15 th), and looked good on the play of goalie Dwayne Roloson. Brad Winchester won his fight with Sean O'Donnell and the crowd was feeling it ! The goal by Selanne made the score 2-1, and that carried til 17 seconds remaining in the game. Kunitz scored the tying goal, and the Oilers failed to get the 2 points on Anaheim. One bad play in O.T. and the Ducks get a goal from Getzlaf. Not the outcome we had hoped for ,but a great game under the circumstances.

The Ducks are considered the favorite to win the Western Conference, so stealing a point from them looks good. However losing this game when it was in the Oilers grasp is excruciating ! The single point gives the Oilers a one point lead over the Wild in the N.W. division. Next up is Colorado Thur. Nov.30th

Thank You Chris Pronger ! Thank You !

We Survived !

It's winter, it's cold and then to top things off...
About 7:30 p.m.
I was playing a game of poker on-line, Char and Emma were in the tub, Avery and Gabe were playing with toys on the stairs and vip the power shuts down. The kids started screaming and I started fumbling around to find them. We made it up the stairs safely and then located a lantern.
I gotta say the house looks pretty with 25 tea lights twinkling away! B.C Hydro announced that it was gonna take a good while to sort this one out, so arrangements were made to hunker down at Ted and Shirley's. It was allready -22C and the howling wind made it feel like -35C that wood burning stove and fire place at Char's folks sounded nice!
A good thing to do when you abandon your home in this condition is to turn on your water taps "slightly" so the lines don't freeze up. I called some friends to let them know the tip, and then we were off to grampas. One can almost get frost bite in 30 secs. with bare skin, I found this out myself.
Being in a safe warm house is a true blessing ! Thank-you to ma and pa for letting us in. One thing I didn't expect was night-mares during my sleep. I guess all the worrying about our home and our friends caught up to me in my dreams.
The power returned about 2:00-2:30 a.m. and we're thankful to B.C. Hydro for that !

Weird Al Strikes Again !

Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot

Don't wanna be some beer swillin hockey nut

And do I look like some frostbitten hose-head?

I never learned my alphabet from A to Zed

They all live on donuts and moose meat

And they leave the house without packin heat

Never even bring their guns to the mall

And you know what else is too funny?

Their stupid Monopoly money

Can't take em seriously at all

*

Well maple syrup and snows what they export

They treat curling just like its a real sport

They think their silly accent is so cute

Can't understand a thing theyre talkin aboot

Sure they got their national health care

Cheaper meds, low crime rates and clean air

Then again well they got Celine Dion

Eat their weight in Kraft macaroni

And dream of drivin a Zamboni All over Saskatchewan

*

Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot

wont figure out their temperature in Celsius

See the map, theyre hoverin right over us

Tell you the truth, it makes me kinda nervous

*

Always hear the same kind of story

Break their nose and they'll just say sorry

Tell me what kind of freaks are that polite?

It's gotta mean they're all up to somethin

So quick, before they see it comin

Time for a pre-emptive strike!

Our trip to Prince !

Our trip to Prince George was really nice ! I hadn't been out of town or spent any $ in a coons age, so it was like therapy. We didn't go for long, or spend much at all, but it was a great time with my family. Char's ultra sound was long, but the kids and I were allowed in to see the baby...very kewl !
*
We had lunch at McDonalds, then bought a couple Christmas gifts at Walmart. At least we know Avery will be thrilled Christmas morning. Gabe will be easy to buy for, cause he wanted everything he saw. (We'll get his present next week) With Emma all ready being done, we are well on our way to being finished. Char and I decided on a joint gift to each other, and we're happy with our modest purchase.

Stopped at the museum for the kids to have some play time, and that turned out to be quite fun. The kids even got to handle a corn snake.
*
The kids were so well behaved we stopped at the Good-Will and bought them a little treat each. It really was a good family day !
On the way to Prince we saw a moose and its calf, plus a bobcat, on the way home we saw this magnificant bull moose. I had to crop the picture because the digital camera doesn't have a great zoom lense.

The stars came out to shine and the big guns put up some stats.
Though the Blues are no power-house they did beat us last week, so revenge is sweet.
Hemsky added 3 assists, Sykora had 2 assists !

Sweet Angel

Yesterday when I woke, I looked out the window and noticed that it was still snowing ! I said out loud "who keeps ordering this snow?" and Emma answered "Jesus!"
I was quite startled in a proud way, (she's only 3 1/2) so I said back "How do you think?"
Emma replied "Because He makes the blue sky, the sun, our basements and the stuff inside !"

In sad news, last night Gabe's green anole "Rocky" died peacefully in his terarium. This morning I had the burden of telling him. The Little guy took it pretty hard. Hopefully this little memorial will boost his spirits til we buy a new one. "Lizzie" is alone now and will need a friend !

Oilers Win !

The Oilers beat the 'lanche 2-1 on the speed of Ryan Smyth's 2 goals, but then lost Ryan late in the game on a knee hit from John Michael Liles. There was a penalty on the play, but likely no suspension. Ryan says John isn't that type of player and that the league would take care of it. I think that was a planned answer because you can't say anything negative anymore, or you get fined... "ala Mac T calling a refs botched call retarded during a press conference" Your thoughts ?
